METROPOLIS INTRODUCTION VIDEO

This is the first
available video of Citroën's latest concept car, the Metropolis,
that gives certain German makers (see Porsche and BMW) a lesson or two on how
to design an eye-candy luxury sports saloon.
The
styling of the 5.3m long and 2m wide but only 1.4m high Metropolis has echoes
of the French automaker's well received GT supercar concept of 2008. This one
was developed by Citröen's Shanghai-based design team.
Under the
subtle "Pearl Silk" colored bodywork there's a plug-in hybrid
drivetrain that utilizes "an optimized" 2.0-liter V6 petrol engine,
an electric motor and a 7-speed, dual-clutch electronic gearbox...

CX Chases Renault 5 in French TV Show

We can't tell you what cheezoid
cop show you're watching, nor can we tell you why the chiseled good guy in the Renault
5 is pursuing the obvious baddie in the Citroën.
It appears that the guy in the 5, finding himself behind
the CX, takes a "short cut" across the countryside in order to
reappear… still behind the CX. Some pretty good Franco-hoonage here,
and that's what counts!

FASTEST 2CV

It takes inspired madness to imagine that
the perfect mate for a Ferrari 355 chassis could be a Citroen 2CV Fourgonnette
body.
Imagine motoring along at a respectable 100 mph on one of
Europe's many Autoroutes when in your mirror appears the fast-approaching
grille of a 2CV Truckette. "What the.." you utter as it
flashes its headlights at you and you pull to the right while watching the
Truckette blow by you at an impossibly-high speed. You tap your
speedometer and make a mental note to visit your Porsche mechanic next week.
This is the result after 1,500 hours of work by Nimik,
an group of crazy Italians who like to build rally cars and turn heads doing
it. Nicolo Lamberti, 35, and Milko Dalla Costa, 51, who
run the Italian 'Nimik' rally team, took the chassis and engine of a speedy
Ferrari F355 Berlinetta and combined it with the body of a 12bhp Citroen 2CV
Fourgonnette.
The car was created by essentially lowering the body of
the Fourgonette over the stripped chassis of the Ferrari and then stitching
everything together. Of course, the body had to be widened and the air-intakes
fabricated and a thousand other things, but holy Moses, the results speak for
themselves. Capable of 180 mph and going from 0-60 mph in 5 seconds,
this demonic 2CV is certainly bound to get some mixed reactions at any
car show: indignant howls of outrage from the Ferrari faithful and smiles of
approval from the rest of us.

NEW CITROEN
DS?
February 2009
Citroen is reviving the DS name to try and build some
heritage back into its future range. The 2011
Citroen DS3 will be the first and smallest member of a three-car range,
going on sale mid-2010. A mid-size DS4 will be next, followed by a
top-of-the-line DS5. Unfortunately, the DS3 seems to take more styling
cues from the current Mini than Citroen's venerable and classic DS19 or
DS21. One hopes that the DS4 and DS5 will copy some of the DS' original
and innovative styling.
