models get mineral oil for their hydraulic system – this excluded any cars
built for North America which was awaiting DOT (Department of
Transportation) approval to use the mineral-based LHM fluid in the braking
system. Because of the fluid's color, this new system is
referred to as the green system and the older vegetable-based LHS system is
commonly referred to as the red system.

models get glass-covered dual-headlight fenders. Also, standard on all DS
models and an option on all other cars, the inner headlights, connected by
an ingenious albeit simple mechanism of rods and cables to the steering,
would pivot and allow the car’s driver to see around a corner.
USA-bound cars were again stymied by the DOT and instead received a
less attractive coverless sealed-beam lighting system mounted in painted
aluminum housings.

replaced with recessed lift handles.
